Marble Restoration

Marble does not wear out.
It wears down.

Dulling, etching, scratches, stains and cracks are surface conditions — not the end of the stone. In almost every case we remove the damage and rebuild the finish, without replacing a single tile.

Which one do you see?

If it looks damaged, it can be saved

Most people describe all of these the same way — "the marble looks bad." They are six different problems, and treating one as another is how a surface gets made worse.

The Result

This is what comes back

Stone that reads as new — because it is the same stone, refinished. No replacement, no cover-up coating, no matching problems. The surface you already own, brought back to specification.

The Honest Answer

Most people are told they need to replace it

We are asked this on nearly every assessment. The answer is usually restoration — but not always, and we will tell you which one you are looking at before we quote anything.

What we restore

  • Etching, dulling and loss of shine
  • Scratches within the surface layer
  • Oil, rust, water, wine and organic stains
  • Cracks and chips with sound stone around them
  • Failing seams between slabs and tiles
  • Lippage between floor tiles
  • Grout that is discoloured or soiled

When replacement is the answer

  • Stone that is structurally broken through
  • Damage from an unresolved cause — movement, water, an unsupported span
  • Missing material that cannot be matched and blended
  • Surfaces already ruined by a previous failed repair

Even here we will explain why — and if the cause is fixable, restoring may still be the better call.

Why it matches

We refinish the stone that is already there, so the veining runs through the repair. There is no seam to hide.

Why It Comes Back

The damage is on the surface. So is the fix.

Etching, dulling, scratches and stains all live in the top layer of the stone. The substrate underneath is almost always sound — so we rebuild the finish from the surface down, in stages matched to what the stone actually is.

Step 01: Diagnose
01

Diagnose

We identify which condition is actually present — etch, stain, scratch or wear — because each is removed a different way.

Step 02: Match the method
02

Match the method

Calcium-based stone and silicates behave differently. The abrasive sequence is chosen for your specific stone, not a generic pass.

Step 03: Rebuild the finish
03

Rebuild the finish

Progressive honing removes the damaged layer, then polishing brings the surface back to the finish — matte, satin or high gloss.

Step 04: Protect it
04

Protect it

Sealing, and where specified anti-etch or anti-slip treatment, so the surface holds the result instead of wearing straight back.

Restoring the existing stone rather than replacing it is usually the difference between a repair and a renovation.

One Crew, Every Surface

Everything your stone needs, in one call

Restoration rarely means one task. A floor that needs polishing usually needs grout addressed and sealing afterward. We handle the whole scope rather than handing you off between trades.

Countertop Protection

Anti-etch treatment

A clear, non-yellowing surface treatment we apply to marble kitchen counters, islands, bar tops and vanities. It makes the surface 100% stainproof against wine, citrus, vinegar and cleaning chemicals — the substances that etch marble in the first place.

Polished stone floor treated with an anti-slip solution
Floor Safety

Anti-slip treatment

Increases the coefficient of friction on polished marble and stone to meet ANSI A137.1 — without changing the floor's appearance, colour or finish. For lobbies, stair treads, entries and any wet stone surface.

01

Crack & Chip Repair

Colour-matched bonding and refinishing so the repair blends with the stone.

02

Scratch Removal

From light surface marks to deep gouges that need honing out.

03

Stain Removal

Poultice extraction matched to oil, rust, water, wine or organic staining.

04

Grout Cleaning & Restoration

Deep cleaning, recolouring and sealing for discoloured or crumbling grout.

05

Caulking & Seam Repair

Colour-matched, mould-resistant sealing at fixtures, backsplashes and slab seams.

06

Stone Sealing

Penetrating and surface sealers for marble, limestone, travertine and terrazzo.

07

Honing & Polishing

Full-surface refinishing to matte, satin or high-gloss specification.

08

Scheduled Maintenance

Ongoing programmes that hold the finish instead of waiting for it to fail.

Materials & Finishes

The stone decides the method

Calcium-based stones behave completely differently from silicates. Using one method across both is one of the most common ways a restoration goes wrong — and the damage it causes is not always reversible.

01

Marble & Travertine

Calcium-based. Etches on acid contact.

Acid-sensitive
02

Terrazzo

Cement or epoxy matrix. Grinds and polishes back to clarity.

Grind & polish
03

Limestone

Softer, more absorbent. Honed finishes are typical.

Absorbent
04

Granite

Acid-resistant. It stains and scratches, but does not etch.

Case by case

Finish specification

Polished marble finish

Polished

Mirror clarity. The classic marble finish — and the one that shows etching most.

Honed marble finish

Honed

Matte to satin. Hides scratches and etching far better. Common in kitchens and wet areas.

Restored Original marble finish

Restored Original

Matched to the finish that was already there. What most restoration is specified to.

In His Words

“We are a small crew, and I am on every job. When I tell a client their marble can be saved, it is because I have stood on it and looked at it myself — not because it is the easier quote to give.”

Asked On Every Assessment

The questions that decide it

What does it cost?

We do not quote from a photo or a phone call, because the honest answer depends on the stone, the square footage, the condition and the finish you want. You get a free on-site assessment, a detailed scope of work and a firm price before any work begins — no change orders without your approval.

Will I have to close my lobby or disrupt the building?

No. We work in phases during low-traffic windows, and after-hours and weekend scheduling is standard for occupied buildings. Work areas are contained and dust-controlled, so hotels, restaurants and residential buildings keep operating while the floor is restored.

How do I know the finish will match the rest of the stone?

Because we are not covering anything up — we are refinishing the stone that is already there. The finish is specified with you before work begins and matched to the surrounding surface, so the restored area blends rather than reading as a patch.

Who is actually coming into my home or building?

Our own crew — we do not subcontract. Six people including the owner, who supervises every project. Every employee is drug-tested and background-checked before entering any building.

What Happens Next

The free assessment, exactly

No obligation, no pressure and no charge. Three things happen, and one of them is the reason people trust us.

01

We survey every surface

Not just the one you called about. We look at every stone and grout surface in the space and note what we find.

02

We diagnose each cause

You get an explanation of what each condition actually is and why it happened — including the ones that will recur if the cause is not addressed.

03

We tell you what does not need work

If a surface is fine, we say so. If it can wait, we say that too. You get a firm scope and price for only what genuinely needs doing.
